These two run the same pipeline in opposite directions, which is why they turn up in the same search. Speechify reads text to you: 1,000-plus voices, 60-plus languages, up to 5x speed, on every platform and in the browser, for $29 a month or $139 a year, with a free tier limited to ten robotic voices at 1.5x. Flit listens to you and writes, on a Mac, for $49 once. Speechify Premium does now bundle Voice Typing, so the overlap is not zero, but reading is the product and dictation is a line item. If you want documents read aloud, buy Speechify and do not let a dictation comparison talk you out of it. If you want to stop typing, that is Flit.

Listed because they are true. None of them changes the answer if you dictate on a Mac and want your words to stay there.
Text to speech and speech to text sound like the same category and are almost unrelated as products. One takes writing and produces audio; the other takes audio and produces writing. The engineering, the failure modes and the reasons people buy them barely overlap. We have put Speechify on this site because people genuinely search across the two, and the useful answer is usually not "pick one". If reading is slow for you and typing is slow for you, those are two problems, and a reader and a dictation app are two purchases that do not compete.
Speechify Premium lists Voice Typing, described on their pricing page as writing 5x faster with dictation, and their site was advertising its launch when we checked. So the honest version is not "Speechify does not dictate". It is that dictation arrives as one item among AI podcasts, a voice assistant, summaries and a thousand voices, priced as part of a $29-a-month reading subscription and processed in the cloud. If dictation is the reason you are shopping, a $49 app that does only that will go deeper. If you were buying Speechify anyway, trying its Voice Typing before buying anything else is the sensible order.
