Requirements
Will it run on your Mac?
Worth checking before you download. Everything runs locally, which is the whole point, and it is also why the hardware bar is where it is.
macOS 14 or later
Sonoma and up. Two features want more: Apple’s newest speech model and Apple Intelligence formatting both need macOS 26. Flit works without either, using its own local models.
Apple silicon
M1 or newer. The speech and formatting models are bound to the Neural Engine and Metal, which is also why text lands in about 0.7 seconds.
Microphone access
Required, and requested on first run. Audio is transcribed on your Mac and never sent anywhere.
Accessibility access
Optional. It is what lets Flit type at your cursor. Decline it and Flit runs in copy-only mode, putting the transcript on your clipboard instead.

Open it and pick a key
Fn by default. Onboarding walks through the microphone and accessibility prompts in order, explaining what each is for before macOS asks.
Choose a speech model
The default is ready immediately with nothing to fetch. Heavier models are optional, show their size before you commit, and can be deleted later.
Put your cursor somewhere and talk
That is the whole product. No window to keep open, no document to work inside, nothing to copy afterwards.
No account is created at any point, because there is no account. Flit does not know your name and has nowhere to store it.
After you buy
How the license reaches you.
Payment is handled by Paddle, our merchant of record, who will appear on your receipt and card statement. Immediately after checkout you receive an email with your license key and a receipt.
Paste the key into Flit once and it is activated permanently on up to 2 of your Macs. Because the app never contacts a license server, activation works offline and cannot be revoked remotely.
If the email does not arrive, write to [email protected] and a person will resend it. Refunds are available for 30 days, described on the refund page.
