In fairness
Listed because they are true. Verba keeps the audio on your Mac and says so clearly, so the two apps agree about the microphone. They disagree about what should happen next: Verba hands your words to a model with permission to act, behind a confirmation step. Flit hands them to your cursor.
Verba’s headline feature is that your voice can do things: send, create, post, across a large list of connected apps, with a plan shown and a confirmation required first. That confirmation step is the right design and we want to credit it. It is still a different product with a different risk profile, and a different amount of setup, from an app whose maximum capability is putting characters where your cursor is. Flit is deliberately incapable of acting. That is not a roadmap gap. Voice is a lossy channel, and the failure mode of a misheard instruction is worse when the tool has permissions.
Verba’s free tier is unlimited raw dictation with no card, which is more generous than most of this list and worth taking seriously if budget is the constraint. What it does not include is the AI layer: Polish, Intent, Translate, Context and Prompt are Pro, as are Notes, Tasks and the agent. Pro is $9.99 a month, $84 a year or $149 once, and on top of that the models run on your own AI account at your provider’s prices. Flit is $49 once with the formatting included and no provider behind it, which is cheaper if you want finished text and more expensive if raw transcripts are all you need.

Its site states that audio stays on your Mac, with online transcription offered as a choice. The AI modes then go to whichever provider account you connected. Flit has no provider step at all.
No, and it never will. Flit puts finished text at your cursor and you press send. If you want the sending itself to be voice-driven, that is exactly what Verba is for.
