Two things separate them today. Tyll is not on sale yet: its download page says the download is not enabled and offers a launch notification instead. And it recognises 25 European languages where Flit covers 99. If you want dictation and meeting notes in one local, buy-once app and you can wait, put your email in. In fairness
Listed because they are true. Tyll runs on your Mac, asks for no account, works offline and is bought once, which is the whole argument this site makes. We are not going to pretend that is a weakness. What is left is language coverage, whether the text arrives while you speak, and the fact that you cannot buy it yet.
Local models, no account, no subscription, offline, Apple silicon, pay once. Tyll’s home page could be a paraphrase of ours, and that is worth saying plainly rather than burying. We think it means the argument is right, not that one of us is wrong. If you end up buying Tyll instead of Flit, the thing we actually care about still happened: your voice stayed on your machine and you paid for software once. The honest differences are narrow and specific, and they are in the table above.
Tyll bundles dictation and meeting notes and prices the bundle against two subscriptions, which is a strong argument if you need both. Flit does one of those jobs and charges $49 for it. The depth that buys you is real, streaming text, formatting fixed by rules, per-app tone, a project index, 99 languages, and so is the gap: if meetings are half your problem, Flit answers half of it. Aside is worth a look for the same reason, and it is available now.
